Call for Nominations: Your Chance to Get Involved in the VATA

The VATA is currently seeking candidates for the following positions:

  • President-Elect
  • Secretary
  • Region 4 (Norfolk/Tidewater area) representative


Eligibility Requirements of the President-Elect & Secretary

Candidates must be:

  • in good standing as licensed Athletic Trainer by the Virginia Board of Medicine
  • an NATA member
  • BOC certified

Term of Office of all VATA officers = 2 years
Term of office of the President-Elect & Secretary shall begin at the time of the VATA Annual Business Meeting in January 2010.


Eligibility Requirements of the Region Representative

Candidates must be:

  • in good standing as licensed Athletic Trainer by the Virginia Board of Medicine
  • a NATA member

Term of office = 2 years; may serve concurrent terms
Term of office shall begin at the time of the VATA Annual Business Meeting in January 2010.

Responsibilities of President-elect

  • Assume the duties of the President in his/her absence or for the remainder of an unexpired term in the event that the President is unable to fulfill the duties of his/her office.
  • Work with the Conference Committee to coordinate the program for the Annual Meeting and Symposium
  • Attend Executive Council meetings each fall, winter, and spring (3 meetings per year)
  • Participate in conference calls as necessary

Responsibilities of the Secretary

  • Record all minutes of the meetings of the Executive Council and the VATA and distribute them to the membership.
  • Serve as custodian of all records, books, and papers belonging to the VATA.
  • Conduct, in conjunction with the President and the Executive Council, the official correspondence of the VATA, including such matters as meeting notices, election results, committee appointments, and all notices as required by the Bylaws and requested by the Executive Council.
  • Attend Executive Council meetings each fall, winter, and spring (3 meetings per year)
  • Participate in conference calls as necessary
  • Assist with organization and operation of Annual Meeting and Symposium

Responsibilities of the Region 4 Representative

  • Act as liaison between region members and the Executive Council
  • Implement the policies and actions of the Executive Council within their regions
  • Promote the athletic training profession and the VATA within their region
  • Serve as a member of the Membership Committee • Serve as a member of the Nominations Committee
  • Attend Executive Council meetings each fall, winter, and spring (3 meetings per year)
  • Participate in conference calls as necessary
  • Assist with organization and operation of Annual Meeting and Symposium


Nominations are currently open and will remain open until the time of the election. Election will be held at the Annual Business Meeting in January 2010.
