Preview of the presentation

Patient-centered communication improves diagnostic efficiency, clinicians’ and patients’ satisfaction, and treatment outcomes. Breakdowns in communication within the interprofessional healthcare team can result in poor quality of care, medical errors, and even catastrophic events. As a result, communication training has become an essential component in the development of healthcare professionals and continues through professional development. This session will explain a variety of communication frameworks athletic trainers can use to improve communication within the healthcare team and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
