Pre-Recorded Sessions
Speaker
Lucas Dutil, LAT, ATC, CES, CISSN
Athletic Trainer/Sports Medicine Instructor - William Campbell HS
Presentation Title
Joint Mobilizations
Session Objectives:
-
Discuss what constitutes a joint mobilization
-
Help us understand the convex-concave rule
-
Apply specific joint mobilization techniques to improve various conditions
Lucas provided the following tips for practicing and preparing for the pre-recorded demonstration session:
-
The speaker encourages students to practice on different people so you can get a sense of how the mobilizations feel on different body types and also to get a sense of how much pressure has to be applied, etc.
-
Using a belt can be helpful for the hip mobilizations, and using a wedge or a towel can be beneficial for the knee and ankle mobilizations.
-
Assess/"test" the patient before performing the mobilizations and then "re-test" following the mobilizations. This is helpful for clinicians to know whether or not the mobilization was useful for that particular patient and situation. The "test" could be a lot of things but might include: walking, performing a squat, measurable range of motion, etc., it all just depends on the situation.
