Amendment 4

Please comment below on the following amendment to the VATA Constitution & Bylaws.

  1. VATA Bylaws, Article VIII: Committees

Current language: Committees that are listed within the bylaws.

  • Scholarship

  • Nomination

  • Constitution and Bylaws

  • Legislative

  • Public Relations

  • Conference

  • Membership

  • Third Party Reimbursement

Proposed language: Officially adding the following as committees to the bylaws as well name changes to other committees as noted, and adding/revising pertinent language to the committee descriptions to reflect current practice.

  • Government Affairs (change from Legislative)

  • Annual Meeting (change from Conference)

  • Council on Practice Advancement

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (currently a task force)

  • Honors and Awards

  • Intercollegiate Sports Medicine

  • Research (currently a task force)

  • Secondary Schools

  • Student Affairs

  • Young Professionals

Rationale: The name changes have been used for some time now, so for those it is just an update in terminology. Most of these have been operating under committee status, but were never officially entered into the bylaws. Adding them as official committees and their pertinent language, as well as updating the language for the other committees, helps to ensure structure.
