INTERCOLLEGIATE SPORTS MEDICINE COMMITTEE (ICSMC)

The VATA Intercollegiate Sports Medicine Committee (ICSMC) was formed to recognize and support the certified athletic trainer (ATC) as the primary advocate for collegiate athletic health and safety issues. In conjunction with the VATA and the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) CUATC, the mission of the VATA College and University Athletic Trainers Committee is to:

  1. Support the overall goals and objectives of the Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association

  2. Serve the athletic trainers of Virginia who practice in the collegiate setting

  3. Promote and enhance athletic training in the college/university setting in the state of Virginia

  4. Identify and address issues related to the health and safety of intercollegiate student-athletes

  5. Serve as a liaison between the NATA CUATC, MAATA CUATC, and the VATA as well as intercollegiate athletic trainers within the state of Virginia

  6. Promote institutional ownership in the integrated health care delivery system within intercollegiate athletics
